"Choose one inspirational quote or motto that has helped you throughout your journey with cystic fibrosis. How do you live by your quote or motto and how has it motivated you to accomplish your goals?"

Growing up, one of the first lessons my parents taught me was to never let my Cystic Fibrosis hold me back from doing anything I set my mind to. There have been so many times in my life that I could’ve let my CF be an excuse to quit, but I kept on, whether it was singing, dancing, golfing, swimming, or just being active in my community. The storms in my life have come in many forms and fashions, including declining lung functions, a hospital stay, and little weight gain, but they have all passed in due time. However, I’ve learned that if I sit back and wait for these storms to pass, I would be missing precious time to enjoy the beautiful life I’ve been given. Though I may be struggling with my CF at times, I still try to take advantage of any opportunities that come my way. Life is short, and possibly a little shorter for me, so I don’t have time to wait to accomplish my goals. I want to succeed in life and not let my CF define my experience here. I know the storms won’t stop coming, so I’ve just got to put on my rain boots, grab my Vest, and start dancing.
