"Choose one inspirational quote or motto that has helped you throughout your journey with cystic fibrosis. How do you live by your quote or motto and how has it motivated you to accomplish your goals?"

"Comparison is the thief of all joy" is simple, yet immensely impactful quote that I have lived by from the moment I heard it. On weak days, I would often look at the people around me and think “I bet that person doesn’t have to do hour(s) of treatment every day. I bet that person doesn’t have to take medications before each meal. I bet that person doesn’t need to….” Then, I heard this quote. It hit me like a train and changed my whole perspective of how I should be living my life with Cystic Fibrosis. Instead of comparing myself and my condition to others, I realized that I should embrace my life the way it is, and use it to help others who are different, as well. Instead of saying “I bet that person doesn’t need to…,” I began saying “I bet that person doesn’t get to experience the relentless love and compassion of a CF Care team. I bet that person doesn't get to share stories of a chronic disease to help motivate others.” I realized that I have been truly blessed by being diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Acknowledging the fact that I do not need to compare my life with others allows me to work towards my goals in all areas of life—from academics to athletic activities to my spiritual and social life—while finding joy in every detail!
