Meet the 2020 Scholars

"What do you believe is the greatest unaddressed patient need in the CF community, and if you could, how would you try to fix it? Who would you partner with (e.g. public figure, organization) to help fix the issue and why?"

I believe that an unaddressed need in the CF community is the need for a suitcase that holds all equipment and medication used during traveling. I have always had trouble traveling with my treatments. Not able to fly certain airlines because my vest suitcase was too large to be put in the overhead, airlines failing to accommodate for my medication bag as a carry-on, and my medications as well as treatments taking up half of my personal suitcase. Leaving little room left for items for my trip. I would partner with Gunnar Esiason or Boomer Esiason in order to get this product funded and recognized by the CF community. I would also partner with a reliable suitcase-making company in order to make a custom suitcase that was made to house my treatments. The suitcase would be able to be a checked bag due to all treatments being secured properly and tightly in the suitcase. This suitcase would have a custom slot for my medication, my vest, my nebulizer, my masks, and any other treatments that a CF patient must take with them to travel. Having a suitcase made for the vest was a great idea, but not good enough. CF patients still deal with issues of how to take all their necessary medications and treatments with them while traveling! Let's together make suitcases that will allow CF patients to not dread traveling, but get excited for experiencing new places and a new invention!
