"Living through a global pandemic with a chronic illness, what is one piece of inspirational advice that you would give to other students with CF who are in the same or similar position?"

From the perspective of a CF patient who has always been cautious of my health and safety, I have empathy for those experiencing fear of the corona virus and the detrimental effects of a chronic illness that has become second nature to me. It takes bravery for everyone, especially people with underlying illnesses, to maintain a positive mindset during a pandemic that could put our well-being at a higher risk. I wanted to encourage others to adapt to these fears the same way I have learned to over the years. Despite the hardships, I always remind myself that we all have something to be grateful for. This includes the simple fact that we wake up each morning with another chance to live. Perhaps those who have never experienced living with the possibility of getting sick, losing someone you love, or anything that comes along with chronic illnesses, will realize after the pandemic that life is fragile and not worth taking for granted. After many doctors' visits, clinical trials, and times when I did not know if I would survive, I can confirm that this statement is true. Therefore, my most significant piece of advice to other students with Cystic Fibrosis would be to live every day with resilience and gratitude. With that said, the CF community has been fighting for our lives since the day we were born and will not let corona virus, or any other difficulties come in between us and our aspirations for the future.
